Everything You Need to Know to Defend Democracy This Week
This could be one of the most important weeks in our lifetimes. On Tuesday evening elections officials all across the country will begin to report out results of the 2020 election. Throughout the entire election season Donald Trump has waged a war on democracy. For months he’s refused to accept the results of the election, making up baseless claims of ‘voter fraud.’ His Republican Party has resurrected a dirty trick of the Jim Crow south by deploying tens of thousands of right-wing operatives to intimidate voters of color all across the country, and his Postmaster General Louis DeJoy attempted to gut the US Postal Service just before millions of Americans cast their ballots by mail.
Here’s our plan…(or at least the start of it)
We’ve been training, researching and organizing for months and now that election day is just around the corner our plans are starting to come together. During last night’s open organizing meeting we came to a consensus on our basic framework to defend democracy and make sure Trump leaves the White House.
Report back from yesterday’s organizing call
Election night is just around the corner and the Trump administration and the Republican Party are ratcheting up their attacks on democracy. But our grassroots efforts to defend democracy and build the world we want to live in are gaining momentum.
Resources for folks outside the DC area! (but also useful for DC people)
What we need is for people in thousands of communities all over the country to take to the streets. And we have some resources to help you plan for that! While we don't have the capacity to do one-on-one training right now, we hope these resources will be helpful as you make plans for this fall and winter. (If you ARE in the DC area, forward this email to friends and family who live elsewhere!)
