Next Week: Tell the World Bank to Stop Funding Coal, Oil and Gas

Next week, delegates from the International Monetary Fund and World Bank are convening in Washington, DC for their annual spring meetings. These shadowy institutions have been among the largest funders of fossil fuels globally for decades, and they’ve used their financial leverage to force countries around the world to open up their lands to devastating fossil fuel extraction projects.

That’s why we’re mobilizing to disrupt business as usual for the IMF and World Bank.

Wrong Way on Climate Bike Tour

Meet at 6pm at Edward R. Murrow Park (H St. and 18th St NW). Ride rolls at 6:30pm SHARP.

Join us on the opening day of the Spring Meetings of the IMF and World Bank to disrupt business as usual for these institutions. We’ll snake through the streets of Foggy Bottom during rush hour, holding up traffic as the finance ministers work to make their way to their dinner parties and back room meetings.

Ride your bike, wear a helmet and bring a sign or noisemaker!

Don’t have a bicycle? Rent a bike from Capital Bikeshare right in Edward R. Murrow Park!

Global Solidarity Party and Art Build

Thursday, April 13 5-8pm at DC Brau Brewery

3178-B Bladensburg Rd NE, Washington, DC 20018

This April, social movement and civil society leaders from around the globe will be traveling into Washington, DC for the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank. Inside the meetings we’ll be working hard to bring the voices of the communities most impacted by the policies of these institutions into the discussion. Outside the meetings we’ll be making noise with public demonstrations and artistic interventions.

But we know that building strong and deep ties across borders is essential to building a powerful and sustained movement to hold these institutions accountable. That’s why we’ll be getting together away from the IMF/World Bank campus at DC Brau (a local brewery) for an evening of food, music and solidarity. We’ll also be making signs and banners for the Big Shift Global march the following day!

Everybody is welcome but please RSVP so we can make sure to have plenty of food and drinks!
