We’re going on offense
Voting is underway in much of the country and election day is less than a month away.
During last week’s debate Trump issued a rallying cry to the Proud Boys, calling on the armed neofascist sect to “stand back and stand by.” After holding a super-spreader event at the White House, Trump is still trying to pack the US Supreme Court (and tweeting up an incoherent storm) from his hospital bed at Walter Reed. The Republican party is stepping up their efforts at voter suppression in Pennsylvania, Texas and around the country.
But we’re not sitting around waiting for Trump to try to steal the election. We’re going on the offense to do whatever it takes to defend democracy and force Trump out of the White House.
In just the past week hundreds of people have taken part in ShutDownDC events! Last Thursday we held the third session of Timeline to a Meltdown where we role0played through a number of different scenarios we may face during this election cycle. Then Friday, nearly 100 people participated in a Street Smarts and Direct Action Training. And on Saturday and Sunday, about two-dozen organizers spent the weekend together at a Training of Trainers session to dramatically expand our capacity to support new folks headed into the streets for the first time.
Are you ready to get involved? Join us this Thursday for our open organizing meeting! If this is your first meeting join us at 6pm and we’ll bring you up to speed and cover what we’ve got planned so far. Then at 7pm we’ll pick up right where we left off after last meeting. This week we’re going to dive into discussions about our action framework and timeline and dig into next steps for expanding our work.
