Legal & Recovery Support for Kevin Cramer

Last week, hundreds of us took to the streets to protest the annual meetings of the IMF and World Bank. For more than 80 years these institutions have been using their economic power as a tool of colonial violence, allowing a small group of people from the most privileged countries in the world to make decisions that affect every single person and every single place on this planet, most devastatingly the Global South.

Throughout the week, DC Metropolitan Police mobilized their resources to support these institutions, which are rooted in white supremacy and racialized capitalism, and wall off the powerful delegates at these meetings from voices of people in the streets. On the final day of our demonstrations, the police escalated their attack on our movements by singling out, targeting, and violently arresting Kevin Cramer, a well known local Black activist who has been on the front lines of the movements for Black liberation and climate justice for years.

Now Kevin needs our support. Can you donate to Kevin’s legal support and recovery funds?

We know that police forces are institutions that are rooted in white supremacy and have always been designed to protect the property and interests of the elites. It was no mistake that DC police targeted and assaulted Kevin. And Kevin’s arrest is a harsh reminder that we cannot take on institutions like the IMF and World Bank without dismantling the systems of white supremacy that prop them up.

None of us are free until we’re all free. And we won’t stop until all charges against Kevin are dropped and the cops that assaulted him are held accountable. Right now Kevin needs at least $2,300 for legal fees and more funds to support him as he recovers from his injuries. Can you make a donation right now and share this flier on your facebook, twitter and instagram?
