Join the People’s Filibuster Remotely!
We will be spending 25 hours in front of Mitch McConnell’s house, passing the record for the longest filibuster in United States Senate history. We’ll talk about the issues we care about that the filibuster is blocking, and about why the filibuster needs to go.
If you are unable to attend this event in-person we would still love to have your voice represented! You can either send us a video that we will play in front of his house, or a written piece that someone on the ground will read in front of his house on your behalf.
Your piece should talk about an issue that you are passionate about that the filibuster is blocking progress on (ex. Defunding the police, pathway to citizenship, ending endless wars, Medicare for All, Green New Deal, etc.), or address why the filibuster needs to be abolished. Written Piece:
Please submit a max 600 words piece of writing (story, poetry, etc.) Any shorter length is also fine, but at least a couple sentences is the most helpful!
Someone will read your piece during the filibuster. We will be accepting written pieces even as the filibuster is going on, although please bear in mind that the later they are submitted the less possible it will be to fit them into the program.
